The challenges in directing an original
motion picture production correspond directly to the lack of
willingness to experiment with new or first time directors.
With the overall responsibility for turning words on a page
into a compelling motion picture, the stakes are high, both
artistically and financially.
Now consider that the median average
income of salaried directors and producers was $46,240,
compared to the average cost to produce a motion picture, and
the incentives for taking a gamble on an unseasoned director,
much less a first time director, are not inspiring, at least
from financial perspective.
Despite this apparent dilemma, there are
many examples of first time and unseasoned directors that have
gone on to create some of the most influential works of cinema
early in their careers. With the proper system in place, we
believe a motion picture production company could actively
create opportunities for these directors cost effectively. |
